The letter talks about some results of the application of "substraction-quantumelectrodynamics" to a higher approximation of the Compton-effect.

Pauli thanks Bhabha for his letter of the 26th March. He gives developments about meson and proton dispersion and comments on Bethe's latest work on meson theory and nuclear power and also his interpretation based on Fierz's study of Blau and Wambacher's results. Pauli sees a solution in new particles that have been observed in cosmic radiation. Heitlers theory seems to be unsatisfying. Pauli is working on a theory on high speed particles. He adds some remarks on the war and some physicists.

Pauli confirms that there will be a physics meeting in Basel in September. Schwinger, Rabi, Fermi, Cockcroft, Dyson and others have promised to come. Pauli is going to Princeton in November, but he will be back in May 1950. He gives some comments on his own latest work.

Pauli encountered some difficulties in obtaining his visa from the Indian embassy of Bern.

He says theoretical physics is not making much progress. Källén is working on the question to look behind the veil of Dyson's power series. The new Swiss "infant prodigy", Alder, is working on angular correlation, shell model and related problems and Shafrot on superconductivity. He wonders about his lecture obligations in India.

Pauli received an invitation to India from Dr. S S Nehru and he is asking Bhabha for more details. He thinks his visit would be possible in 1949. He says that Dr. Villars has made a theory on the magnetic moments of H3 and Jost has extended the theory of the emission of many low frequency photons.
