Born replies to a letter from Pauli and gives a clarification of his and Pauli's divergent views as regards the statistical theory of irreversible processes.

Born expresses a great interest in Pauli's paper on Eyl's theory and agrees in particular to his remark that continuum theory cannot be applied to the interior of the electron because of the introduction of quantities which are in principle unobservable. He suggests to Pauli to prove that the surface energy of NaCl cube is smaller than that of any other surface.

Budini has not yet reached a satisfactory result as regards the orthogonality of the eigen-solutions of an equation connected with the regular representation of the homogeneous Lorentz group.

Budini thanks Pauli for his letter. He is now convinced that the eigen-functions in question are not orthogonal to each other.

Caldirola replies to Pauli's question about time dilatation.

This letter from Casimir is accompagnied by an offprint by Casimir and B L van der Waerden "Algebraischer Beweis der vollständigen Reduzibilität der Darstellungen halbeinfacher Liescher Gruppen" (in: Math. Ann. : 111 (1935), pp.1-12). The letter contains a short reference to mathematical problems, experimental results on supraconductivity and personal remarks on Kronig.
