Pauli discusses the vacant post of assistant. He writes about problems with Amaldi's scattering experiment, Villars' strong-coupling deuteron , symmetric weak coupling, Peng's (in: Proc. Roy. Soc. : 18 (1946), pp.119) attempt to remove divergencies, Heisenberg's S-matrix and Ma's redundant zeros.

Pauli replies to Ma's letter of 3 May. He makes comparison of Riesz's method with the Lambda-limiting process. He recommands to Ma to work on supra-conductivity.

Pauli has read with great interest Heisenberg's paper on the S-matrix, but as no method is given how to determine it, the work remains purely programatic.
