In this short letter Pauli only wants to tell Bohr that he has not forgotten his 60th birthday on October 7th.

Pauli writes that it was an exciting surprise that the Nobel prize was awarded to him this year. The decision whether or not he should go to Stockholm on December 10th was really not easy. Considering all circumstances of the present situation, particularly the possibility of such a trip delaying his naturalization. After having heard that Stern and Rabi postponed their participation to the ceremony until next year, Pauli decided to do the same. His naturalization will presumably be completed in January and it is his plan to start his trip to Europe with his wife shortly after. He has to go to Zürich and would also want to visit Dublin and England.

Pauli writes that he and his wife decided to go to Stockholm on the occasion of this year's Nobel celebration, and he will give his lecture there on December 12th. There would be a good opportuniy to see the Bohrs in Copenhagen afterwards. He should be glad to hear as soon as possible whether this will be convenient to Bohr. He has read with great interest Bohr's paper "Problems of elementary particle physics". Joost also reported Bohr's excuse that the paper is too "dilettantic". Pauli is quite well aware of the complementarity between "dilettantic" and mathematical high-brow "fachmässig" way to treat problems particularly, if the "Fachleute" are unable to solve them. His impression of Bohr's paper was a strange one: he found the first paragraph very good and also the last one. He found the longer part in the middle not sufficiently connected with the initial and concluding questions.

Pauli talks about the edition of the Einstein volume. He is glad about Bohr's positive attitude as regards the issue of "Dialectica" on complementary. He also writes on entropy and observation.

Pauli sends his congratulations on Bohr's birthday on the 7th October and this gives him the opportunity to write to Bohr again. He writes about epistemological questions.

Pauli wrote "This Radiolecture for the Columbia Centenary has been written and recorded in the summer of 1953. It appeared now in the collection "Man's right to knowledge" Vol. 2.

Pauli would like to make plans for his and his wife's visit in Copenhagen. He is going to participate to a conference in Lund on June 30th.
