Pauli is preparing for his lecture in Mainz. He has read a book by R Otto on "West-eastern mysticism" (1926), and he writes about its contents. He writes a long excursion on the problem of salvation versus science. He believes cognition and scientific cognition tend to come nearer to each other.

Pauli replies to Fierz's letter of the 15th December 1954, in particular about the "ghosts" (negative probabilities) in quantum electrodynamics and about the shortcomings of renormalization physics.

Pauli sends further remarks on the state of quantum electrodynamics and he writes on Schafroth's work in Australia.

Pauli writes about his visit to Hamburg and gives his impression of Jordan. Annexed to the letter (in fierz_0092-163) Pauli describes 7 dreams. He would like to know of Fierz's reaction to these dreams. The letters are dated 1954-07-20, 1954-08-28, 1954-09-30, 1954-10-01 (?), 1955-08-12, 1955-08-27.

Pauli writes about depression and on the common roots of scientific and religious feelings in him. He also makes references to his dream from the 24 October 1955 and his lecture in Mainz.
