              Letter from Bohr to Pauli
              Letter-0022 · Pièce · 1922/07/03
Fait partie de Archives of Wolfgang Pauli

Bohr expresses satisfaction at having met Pauli in Göttingen. He writes about a remark made by Lenz on selection absorption of harmonics in the case of an unharmonic oscillator.

              Letter from Pauli to Bohr
              Letter-0023 · Pièce · 1922/07/07
Fait partie de Archives of Wolfgang Pauli

The letter describes a problem of classical theory of harmonics. It talks about Pauli's calculations on Bohr's He-Model. He looks forward to his work in Copenhagen.

              Letter from Pauli to Landé
              Letter-0046 · Pièce · 1923/09/23
Fait partie de Archives of Wolfgang Pauli

Pauli thanks Landé for sending him the proofs of his paper. He comments on several points. He talks about the binding of the electrons in the He-atom.

Fait partie de Archives of Wolfgang Pauli

Bohr agrees with almost everything in Pauli's last letter. He reports on a long discussion of Heisenberg's theory and its relation to the earlier quantum theory and on the missing aspects and the future of Heisenberg's theory. His letter has given rise to many changes in Bohr's paper of which he encloses a proof published in: Nature : 116 (1945), 845 and in: Naturwissenschaften : 14 (1926), pp.1.

Fait partie de Archives of Wolfgang Pauli

Heisenberg is preparing the manuscript on He. He writes about the problem of the molecule and makes critical remarks about the physical part of Schrödinger's theory. The connection with De Broglie is not yet discovered.

              Letter-0154 · Pièce · 1927/02/23
Fait partie de Archives of Wolfgang Pauli

Heisenberg objects to Pauli's analogy between quantum mechanics on the one hand and quantum electrodynamics and classical Maxwell theory on the other hand. There is not only Maxwell's equations must be quantized, but also the De Broglie Waves. He explains his ideas on the intuitive meaning of quantum mechanics: 1) position of the electron 2) "orbit" of the electron. He agrees with Dirac that their experiments introduce statistics 3) on the "velocity" of the electron. 4)the transition from micro- to macro-mechanics. He writes that every new observation defines a new state. There are a few examples as illustrations.
